For our future expansion, more courses will be offered and they can take the form of elective courses such as critical thinking and reading, study skills, English literature, Islamic philosophy and thinking, and many more. 2011 will see a greater expansion in terms of staffing as well as teaching facilities such as laboratories and studios. It will be a fruitful year for all, at the centre and the University

Directors’ Speech

director

Bismillahhirahmanirahim, Assalamualaikum WBT.

We are first and foremost grateful to Allah SWT for His love and strength bestowed upon all of us at the Centre for Liberal and Language Studies (CLLS). The centre is very young, about four years old in May 2012. Because of this infancy stage, we feel that it is about time that we expose ourselves and take up the challenges to organise a regional conference. Our areas of interest

include languages, cultures, ethnic relations and political changes in our country. Therefore, this inaugural regional conference, Regional Conference on Cross Cultural Communication and National Integration (RECCNI2012) aims at promoting understanding on various aspects of cultural issues and nation building in Malaysia. We hope that this first attempt will stimulate a culture of research and excellence amongst the members of the CLLS and at the same time, it will enrich the experiences of all involved, increase the social networking and introduce the National Defence University of Malaysia (NDUM) to the world. Welcome to all delegates to the conference.
